Primary objective
Provide leadership and operational management to the team responsible for providing high level executive support to the
Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executives. This includes special projects assistance, corporate support, information
management, executive officer and executive assistant services, secretariat services to various agency governance
committees, managing the engagement of the most senior agency executives with the offices of multiple Ministers, and
managing executive and ministerial correspondence processes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead a team in the timely delivering of high quality executive support and corporate services to the Chief Executive and
Deputy Chief Executives through the effective management of resource, workflow and performance of the Executive
Assistants and Executive Officers.
2. Manage the day to day finances, administration, information management and human resources of the Executive
Services team to ensure accurate and effective services are provided.
3. Ensure high quality secretariat and coordination services are provided for key executive governance committee
meetings of the Department, and for meetings of senior executives with Ministers across multiple portfolios.
4. Provide high level advice and guidance to senior management on government protocols, procedures, and timelines.
5. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and internal processes to support the operations of the Office of the Chief
Executive team.
6. Deliver high quality secretariat and coordination services to key executive governance committee meetings.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated leadership experience in successfully managing the delivery of secretariat and executive support service
in a busy and complex organisational environment.
2. Demonstrated experience in managing staff performance, budgets and business planning in an environment of
continuous improvement.
3. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated experience preparing written
correspondence and reports to a high standard and ability to collaborate and negotiate effectively with stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and internal processes to support the
operations of a team.
5. Demonstrated experience in providing high level advice and guidance to senior management on government protocols,
procedures, and timelines.
6. Proven ability to work effectively to deliver outcomes within tight deadlines, with high standards and attention to detail.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, public administration, public policy or similar.
