This is a large central department that oversees policy and strategic planning. It is located on the north-side and provides a friendly environment where you can further develop your skills.
Your new role
- Develop and manage budget information, including staffing, operational and capital.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for Senior Executive, including variance analysis, commentary and analysis of the full year forecast.
- Monitor and review monthly forecasts in partnership with our stakeholders.
- Provide advice on emerging and material financial impacts on the financial performance of our stakeholders.
- Foster and maintain effective working relationships to promote partnerships and seamless financial services.
- Track divisional staffing movements and recruitment activity.
- Support the development of internal funding proposals.
- Prepare monthly financial accruals.
- Co-ordinate input into the end of financial year process and ANAO audit requests and compliance activities
- Contribute towards business and operational planning.
- Co-ordinate financial input into divisional reporting requirements including the annual report, senate estimates, questions on notice and ministerial briefings.
What you'll need to succeed
- Excellent relationship management skills - The ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to achieve a high level of trust and respect to influence outcomes and communicate findings.
- Technical knowledge - Demonstrated experience in management accounting, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and financial accounting in the government sector.
- Analytical - The ability to identify underlying issues and interrogate financial information in various formats.
- Regular communication and collaboration - understanding the business environment, challenges and priorities.
- Astute judgement - The capability to assess a situation, weigh up risk and reward and act with integrity and professionalism when dealing with sensitive information.
