The Research Office at Curtin has an opportunity available for a Manager, Foreign Risk to join our talented and passionate Foreign Risk Management Team (FRMT). As the Manager Foreign Risk, you will lead a dynamic and high performing team to develop new and innovative solutions to complex issues within the University sector. This dynamic position places you at the helm of the University’s Foreign Risk Management program, where you'll work closely with the Director to strategize and steer the operations of Curtin’s Foreign Risk Management Team to establish a Foreign Risk aware culture across the University and its global campuses. You'll play a pivotal role in safeguarding Curtin's people, brand, information, and assets.
In this position, you will work closely with leadership across Curtin’s faculties, and other divisions to support a whole-of-University approach to Foreign Risk education, awareness, culture setting, due diligence, assessment, and mitigation. Under the strategic direction and oversight of the Director, Foreign Risk, you will manage the development and implementation of Curtin’s Foreign Risk Management Framework, as well as the identify gaps, vulnerabilities and continuous improvement opportunities.

In this role, you will:
- Manage the Foreign Risk Management Team, providing leadership, guidance and advice while modelling the highest standards of Curtin values as well as judgement, discretion and integrity.
- Guide the FRMT in daily responses to new Foreign Risk situations, providing strategic advice supporting objective analysis and assessment, while enhancing methodologies for effective risk identification, mitigation and monitoring.
- Lead the detailed development and day to day operation of Curtin’s Foreign Risk Management Framework.
- Raise awareness of foreign interference and Foreign Risk compliance responsibilities across the University and its campuses.
- Keep up to date with legislation, guidelines and geopolitics which may affect Foreign Risk management and relevant compliance responsibilities across the University.

- Completion of relevant postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training in relevant industry.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, coach and motivate specialised teams in the achievement of significant goals and objectives within a complex and dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated analytical, assessment and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed risk recommendations.
- High level interpersonal and verbal communications skills with the ability to liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, to facilitate solution focussed outcomes for the resolution of complex risk scenarios, challenges and situations.
- High level written communication skills with the ability to prepare correspondence and documentation using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
- Highly developed organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand and project the future strategic and commercial value of advanced technologies, research and concepts.
