Odyssey House NSW’s trauma-informed services set us apart as a leader in the support service space for alcohol and other drugs dependency. Our teams help clients to meet their goals and address underlying trauma and mental health issues, while also developing new skills to improve all aspects of their lives. 

We provide a diverse range of services to individuals, families and community education. Our services include withdrawal services; one-on-one assessment and treatment by psychologists and counsellors; group therapy; residential rehabilitation; and free education at Odyssey College.

Job Description

About the role

Odyssey House NSW is seeking a highly capable Fundraising Manager looking for a job with purpose to join our team. Working collaboratively with the Executive Director Communications and Fundraising, the role oversees the organisation’s fundraising strategies and operations to grow and diversify Odyssey’s income, contributing to the long-term stability of Odysseys work. This role requires demonstrated fundraising experience, strong communication and writing skills, attention to detail, innovative thinking and leadership capacity. Experience in the not-for-profit sector or for-purpose organisations - particularly with donor engagement - is essential. We are seeking a Fundraising Manager who is confident, purpose driven with a creative flair and an absolute passion for fundraising.

Key responsibilities and activities

To drive revenue and fundraising outcomes by leading events, multi-channel direct marketing (acquisition, retention and major gift and bequest lead generation), workplace giving, gifts in wills and mid value donor programs. You will have one direct report.   

Your main activities will include:

  • Running the annual tax and Christmas appeals gaining clear ROI
  • The launch of the gifts in wills program
  • The delivery of the mid-level giving, regular giving programs and campaigns.

Working with the Fundraising Co-ordinator you will also bring to life a strategic and vibrant calendar of fundraising and stewardship events including the annual Business Women’s Lunch.  Supplier management, project management, analytical skills and reporting are integral to this role. 

Desired Skills and Experience

What you will bring to the team

  • At least three years’ experience in a similar fundraising role
  • A willingness to work collaboratively in a small team
  • Strong attention to detail with fundraising copywriting skills
  • An ability to set goals, project manage and work productively with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional time management skills, managing multiple and competing priorities
  • Entrepreneurial approach with a high level of agility
  • Evidence-base and metrics driven (experience with Raisers Edge is highly desirable)
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
