About the Position:
An exciting opportunity exists for a five (5) year fixed term full time Manager Governance and Corporate Services to join our team in the Isaac Region.
Reporting to the Director Corporate, Governance and Financial Services and the CEO as required the Manager Governance and Corporate Services has delegated authority for leading and managing the Governance team on a day to day basis. Key deliverables of the Department include, but are not limited to, leading and managing the operational aspects of corporate governance, corporate/operational planning & reporting, corporate risk, internal audit and legal services. This dynamic role will allow you to inspire and guide collaborative, high-performing teams and influence the corporate governance across all Council departments and business units. This position also has direct links with elected members, the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and the broader Senior Leadership Team.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a management role in a corporate and/or governance environment with a proven track record of managing a diverse range of functions.
- Formal qualifications in the areas of Business, Governance, Law or a related discipline.
- Formal qualifications in Management (highly regarded)
- Have extensive knowledge of Local Government legislation and procedures, including knowledge in local government reporting framework relating to statutory committees and ensuring achieving compliance in a legislative based system;
- Knowledge of commercial and business management strategies and practices with the ability to prepare and manage the implementation of business and operational plans;
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to resource, manage and lead teams essential as is a high level of integrity and an ethical approach to business;
- Solid project management skills with the ability to manage major projects from end to end in a timely and proactive manner
- Experience in providing strategic leadership in strategy and policy development, establishing performance standards and monitoring and reporting on performance, developing and implementing systems in order to deliver compliance;
- Experience in local government at a senior level including experience in developing and presenting to Council, Executive Leadership team (or equivalent), committees and industry.
- Demonstrated experience in relationship management including the ability to problem solve, negotiate and form resolutions with a variety of both internal and external stakeholders;
- Demonstrated financial management abilities including the ability to effectively manage budgets.
