As one of the largest gas infrastructure businesses in Australia, our client delivers natural gas to homes and businesses nationwide. They are leading the transition to a greener energy future by combining renewable hydrogen and biofuels to contribute to the decarbonizing of the economy.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs, you will be responsible for engaging with external audiences and stakeholders, with a strong focus on government engagement, policy makers and influencers to improve awareness and understanding of our client’s businesses, particularly with respect to its transition to a low carbon future. The role is central to communicating and elevating their external reputation with key stakeholders, seizing opportunities to support both existing business and the growth aspirations in renewable energy.
Specifically, this will include:
- Building strong relationships with federal and state governments to communicate business positions, understanding government positions and driving business strategy;
- Developing and delivering key messages to external stakeholders and providing strategic advice and input into issues management and Corporate Affairs strategy;
- Lobbying/advocating for policy settings consistent with the company’s vision
To participate in this exciting and challenging opportunity, a strong understanding of government and an ability to work effectively with elected and departmental stakeholders is key. An understanding of Australia’s energy market and its transition to renewable energy and related policy developments is ideal. Relevant experience in corporate and government relations roles with strong stakeholder management and proven engagement experience with Members of Parliament, ministerial offices, senior business leaders and industry associations, is essential.
