About the role 

As Somerville's Human Resources Manager, you will join us in supporting our biggest assets, our people and our participants. The Manager Human Resources is a key role responsible for highly effective leadership and management of Somerville’s Human Resources Services which includes: Human Resources; industrial relations, staff development and performance; risk management; change management; employee related insurance; reward and recognition program.

Selection Criteria:

- Demonstrated cross cultural sensitivity including an applied understanding of Aboriginal history and culture and the issues that currently impact Aboriginal people.

- Proven knowledge and experience in management of Human Resources including workforce planning, employee relations, diversity, risk management, performance management and change management.

- Demonstrated experience leading investigation, mediation and successful resolution of performance issues, grievances, and other matters.

- Ability to quickly develop strong relationships and be able to influence and negotiate with union representatives, external service providers and other key stakeholders.

- Pro-actively oversee the management and administration of Workcover Claims

- Proven effective management, leadership and teambuilding skills.

- Proven ability to interpret and advise on the application of employment legislation, industrial laws, awards and regulations in the workplace, including the ability to interpret and advise on Enterprise Agreements, Awards, and the practical application of the Fair Work Act.

- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and skill in the use of software applications including the full range of current Microsoft Office programs, recruitment and HR management systems

- Demonstrated high level of professionalism in the confidential management of all organisational, client and employee information.

- Highly developed written and oral communication, negotiation, interpersonal and customer service skills.

- Developing and implementing fit-for-purpose policies and procedures

- Highly developed organisational, time management, analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to manage and meet the demands of multiple tasks, competing priorities and deadlines

- Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline.

- Previous experience in the not for profit sector, or a demonstrated appreciation and understanding of community based organisations.

Employment Requirements

  1. Current Northern Territory Drivers Licence and the ability to travel independently
  2. Current National Criminal History Check
  3. Working with Children Clearance (NT Ochre Card)
  4. First Aid Certificate
  5. Vaccinations – Covid- 19, Influenza
  6. NDIS Worker Screening
