About the role
The Manager: IT is pivotal in steering Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) computing systems, data management, and business applications. Their responsibilities include setting strategic directions, overseeing technology and information systems to optimise learning and teaching, boosting productivity with efficient business systems, and ensuring seamless flow of critical business data for informed decision-making across various platforms.
About You
The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting and assessing long-term enterprise objectives and strategic frameworks concerning technology and resources. Your role will involve developing and refining ICT technology policies aligned with organisational priorities and ensuring consistent adherence to standards and protocols across the network of schools and central office.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- develop and assess technology-related long-term enterprise goals and strategic frameworks
- develop and review ICT technology policies in accordance with enterprise priorities
- provide timely advice and recommendations to the SCS Leadership Team to inform decision-making at an enterprise level
- negotiate and manage all related IT service agreements including contracts, service level agreements (SLAs) and tendering processes
- develop and drive projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget
- design ICT infrastructure for new schools and manage the implementation with architects, electrical engineers and builders
- protect schools by providing a safe, secure network in which to operate and maintain security against policies & regulations
- manage Disaster Recovery Plans in relation to network, systems, and data
- ensure business systems are regularly updated and backed up for the organisation
- overall management of the ICT Technical Teams, and resources to meet and deliver on organisational goals as well as developing the team to their full potential, appraise staff and provide professional learning opportunities
- promote and implement SCS' mission and vision To know and love Christ through learning and Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning.

About you
The successful candidate will also possess the following:
- tertiary qualifications equivalent to AQF level 9 (Master's degree) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology
- at least one current technical Certification in Microsoft, HPE Aruba or Cisco
- ITIL version 4 Foundation certificate
- the ability to work in a high-pressure environment
- 10 years experience in managing a multi-disciplinary ICT team
- proven and extensive experience in ICT strategic planning
- proven extensive experience in developing processes based in ITIL practices
- vendor and managed service provider management experience
- strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and levels
- the ability to respond to sensitive issues, exercise sound judgement and maintain confidence
- a comprehensive understanding of the role of information technology and management in supporting educational outcomes
- proven experience in managing projects and programs of $10 million and above
- strong analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to research and apply problem-solving skills to complex technical and business issues
- willingness to respect, support, and uphold the mission, ethos, and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of SCS.
