- Newly created role reporting to the Director Infrastructure and Compliance that covers a variety of functional areas in the Planning and Compliance space
- Take responsibility for ensuring statutory compliance in Noxious Weeds, Trade Waste, Companion Animals, Development and Building Control and Approvals, Health and Building/Food Compliance, Septic Tanks, and Contamination

Walgett Shire is located in the Outback Region of NSW along the banks of the Barwon and Namoi Rivers. The Shire comprises several towns and villages; including Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Collarenebri and covers an area of approximately 22,000 square kilometres. Each of the towns and villages have their own stories to tell and personalities to meet with the rural charm and country hospitality is found everywhere.
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Planning and Compliance professional to join our management team. You will be a key role of influence within our organisation and our community and manage all aspects of statutory and environmental compliance ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations and standards.
You will be actively involved in developing and reviewing compliance policies, conduct comprehensive risk assessments, provide training and education programs, develop systems of regular audits and lead investigations into compliance breaches.
You will play a critical role in ensuring the planning, compliance and regulatory activities are being managed well.
Lots of great people to work with, you will ideally be Degree qualified, have experience in a similar role, demonstrated ability to advise the Executive Leadership Team on Planning and Compliance matters as they arise. Business improvement, change management within your functional area, strong people leadership skills and just love rolling your sleeves up and making a huge difference to Council and its community are traits we are looking for.
You will play an integral role in leading and managing this functional area and be part of our transformation journey that we have recently embarked on with changes in culture, systems and processes just the start.
We are offering a competitive salary package within a range of $135K and $145K package per annum dependant on your level of expertise and experience, subsidised housing, private use motor vehicle, five weeks annual leave, relocation assistance plus flexible working hours.
