Period of AppointmentAppointment to the role is on a fixed term permanent, full-time basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight).
Duties- Lead and manage the Policy, Quality and Compliance unit by applying effective resource allocation and project management expertise, providing guidance on policy development and Compliance activities.
- Oversee stakeholder management and staff mentoring to ensure the delivery of a high standard of functions that align with government priorities for vocational education and training.
- Anticipate, identify, analyse and manage emerging issues impacting the Tasmanian VET system. Proactively provide specialist and authoritative advice, solutions and recommendations on complex issues to senior management and relevant staff within the unit.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders through proactive liaison and negotiation to inform innovative and responsive policy, compliance and administrative responses that meets the needs of Skills Tasmania and its stakeholders.
- Manage compliance activities to ensure that Skills Tasmania operates in accordance with the Treasurer’s Instructions on grant management and/or procurement, and that RTOs meet their obligations under Skills Tasmania funding agreements.
- Adopt and promote continuous improvement initiatives across the unit through management reporting, information flow, and business processes review and organisational planning.
- Prepare high-level correspondence, reports, and briefing material on key issues impacting on existing and future policy and Compliance matters.
- Represent Skills Tasmania in external forums, committees and working groups.
- Actively contribute to a positive workplace culture across the Skills and Workforce branch.
- Previous experience working within a compliance environment, or in a work area tasked with developing operational purchasing polices as it relates to grant making or procurement.
- An understanding of the national and or Tasmanian vocational education and training system, and the Tasmanian workforce development landscape.
Sound knowledge, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge, of contemporary grant management principles and practices
