• Join the newly formed Preparedness and Recovery Division at the NSW Reconstruction Authority.
• Ongoing full time role (35hpw) based in Parramatta with access to a flexible/hybrid environment. All regional NSW locations will be considered.
• Clerk Grade 11/12 Salary ($139,787 - $161,663) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

About the Agency
The NSW Reconstruction Authority (the Authority), a statutory corporation within Planning & Environment cluster within the NSW Government, was established to proactively reduce the impact of future disasters across NSW and to help communities recover from them faster.
We will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, businesses, and all levels of government to reduce the impact natural disasters have on our lives.

When disasters occur, our staff will work closely with emergency services and community leaders to understand what local communities will need to recover. Once the immediate threat has eased, we will lead recovery efforts in collaboration with community leaders and other recovery partners.

About the role
As we continue to face the impacts of natural disasters, it is crucial to have professionals who can lead recovery efforts. The Manager Recovery plays a vital role in supporting NSW communities after disasters, overseeing procurement and logistics for recovery program delivery services.

As the Manager Recovery, you will manage a team that coordinates surge support for post disaster logistics, including establishing and managing recovery operations. This role will foster and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and lead and coach staff to ensure they have the knowledge, skills, and support to achieve agency objectives. The Manager Recovery should also have extensive experience working across government on large-scale operational projects as this role plays a lead role in overseeing all aspects of project management for disaster recovery and reconstruction efforts under the NSW Recovery Plan.

In addition, the Manager Recovery must be able to navigate highly sensitive media and political environments effectively. This role demands resilience and a unique set of skills, which the right candidate can bring to the table.

Key challenges:

• Establish effective networks with other agencies and key stakeholders to ensure an efficient coordinated and timely recovery during large scale, intense and rapidly changing operational situations.
• Manage the expectations of diverse stakeholder groups of differing size and complexity.

Essential requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in emergency management and/or demonstrated experience in emergency management, disaster recovery or operational decision making.

About you
You will have demonstrated project management skills and enjoy collaborating with others. You will possess a thorough understanding of government decision-making processes, have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to be effective in a highly sensitive media and political environment.

• Disaster management and recovery operations (highly desirable).
• Demonstrated Project Management experience.
• Excellent collaboration and engagement skills.
• Emergency Management qualification and background.
