Role Description
Clean Vibes provides Cleaning and Waste Management Services to events and venues across Australia. Reporting to the Strategic Planning Manager this role is responsible for planning, scheduling and managing all aspects of the service delivery to our various clients.
The Resource Recovery Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring Resource Recovery initiatives, including waste contamination monitoring, event/ venue education activities and overall business guidance on increasing and improving sustainability and diversion from landfill on all waste streams. This position involves a combination of fieldwork and office based tasks, with a focus on optimising waste management practices, reducing contamination levels, and promoting recycling within our event and client base. The role assists in the day-to-day operations of waste services, working as part of a team to improve operational and access collection matters, source separation, Resource Recovery and education with a focus on consistent improvement of waste diversion across all streams. This position plays an important role as an independent field officer within the Waste and Cleansing Operations Division. The position requires the applicant to plan, carry out and maintain records for monitoring contamination of the event/ venue waste streams.
Key Responsibilities
- Waste Contamination Monitoring: Plan and conduct monitoring activities to assess and manage contamination levels in various waste streams. Maintain accurate records and data analysis to identify trends and develop strategies for contamination reduction.
- Bin Audits and Consolidation: Perform audits of waste bins across different sites to evaluate contamination rates and identify areas for improvement. Consolidate and analyse bin data to optimise waste management practices and enhance Resource Recovery.
- Waste Disposal Oversight: Researching, implementing and providing continuous growth on our chosen Resource Recovery facilities. As well as providing guidance on speciality disposal and diversion from landfill of specific/ difficult waste streams.
- Education: Initiate and implement education activities and projects to raise awareness about proper waste disposal practices, recycling guidelines, and the importance of contamination reduction. Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver educational programs and promote sustainable waste management behaviours.
- Grant Funding: Identify and pursue grant funding opportunities to support Resource Recovery projects. Prepare and submit grant applications, ensuring alignment with project objectives and funding guidelines.
- Working with our Container Deposit Scheme partners to implement waste initiatives techniques and reporting.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of monitoring activities, bin audits, education initiatives, and grant applications. Prepare reports and present data to evaluate project progress, measure impact, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities, event organisations, and waste management service providers, to foster partnerships, exchange knowledge, and promote Resource Recovery initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with emerging trends, best practices, and legislative changes in Resource Recovery and waste management. Support growth in diversion techniques of all waste streams and finding initiatives to push the business forward as a forward thinking business in waste disposal.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Undertaking risk and safety audits and ensuring that Clean Vibes safety requirements are adhered to around all waste disposal operations
- Establishing and implementing safe work practices and all required SWMS are in place for waste disposal
- Ensuring that the event operations meet safety and all other statutory requirements for waste disposal
Financial Management
- Support the business around waste operations and cost efficiencies for each event and the region
- Find cost benefits with increased diversion techniques to support the business financially, as well as sustainably
Business Development
- Working with the BD team to prepare and distribute tenders for existing and new business with new waste initiative techniques. increasing our tender documents and services we provide around waste disposal
- Working with the BD team to generate business opportunities and developing relationships within the sector to increase our clients and overall waste operations around better waste disposal techniques
Management Reporting
- Communicating with the Strategic Planning Manager on a regular basis to ensure they remain fully informed of all significant waste diversion developments or issues.
- Communicating regularly with the event or venue management team to ensure that they remain fully informed of all initiatives, changes and diversion growth. Additionally, the activities between the Clean Vibes team and waste companies are well coordinated.
- Preparing and submitting reports i.e. waste management reports & plans.
- Ensuring all other reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.
