The Manager, Strategic Policy reports to the Director, Aboriginal Strategy and Policy to provide strategic advice to strengthen departmental policy to align with the Victorian government's commitment to the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework, Self Determination Reform Framework, Closing the Gap, Treaty and Yoorrook. The position works with Aboriginal community and stakeholders to understand the changing needs of the Victorian Aboriginal community and actively works collaboratively with DFFH executives, managers and program areas across the state ensuring policy meets the needs of the Victorian Aboriginal community. The position is also tasked with ensuring that policies and programs developed are providing strong client led outcomes and that there is Aboriginal voice in decision making processes.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- In partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal community lead the development of Aboriginal policy that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
- Strengthen the departments policy response and alignment to the Victorian government's Aboriginal agreements and frameworks including the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework, Self Determination Reform Framework, Closing the Gap, Treaty and Yoorrook.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal policy areas across DFFH and the Aboriginal Strategic Governance Forum's Koorie Caucus.
