The Strategic Policy Group provides strategic advice, including the development of submissions to Government, to address current and emerging issues relevant to Corrective Services. Issues relating to the management of offenders are analysed to deliver policies that meet community needs and expectations. Through the exchange of information with other relevant agencies, including international and interstate agencies, the Group optimises policy development and implementation. Additionally, the Group proactively identifies the required future strategic organisational capabilities to ensure QCS is positioned to deliver on its long term goals.
The Manager, Strategic Policy, will lead and coach a team of policy advisers to develop and implement strategic policies and frameworks to address trends relevant to the delivery of holistic Corrective Services.

In this role you will:
- Work closely with the Director, Strategic Policy Group, to determine priorities and support achievement of goals through team performance.
- Support the Agency's transformation and change strategies reflected in forward thinking policy concepts and development.
- Manage the development and implementation of policy, legislation and procedures, ensuring the Agency's policy frameworks are consistent with the Government agenda as well as community needs and expectations.
- Co-ordinate and/or provide high level advice and information on policy, legislation and procedures, particularly in relation to emerging issues, significant policy platforms and legislative amendments proposed by other Government departments, that may need to be addressed through QCS policy and procedural changes.
- Manage the preparation of complex submissions and reports, briefing notes, presentations, publications and correspondence for various audiences, including Cabinet, Parliament and the general public.
- Manage the preparation of strategic advice and Cabinet documents based on research and consultation.
- Lead and participate in high level liaison with external and internal stakeholders and relevant organisations.
- Develop and maintain partnerships between the Agency and other key stakeholders to inform Strategic Policy development and effectively meet the needs of clients.
- Represent the Agency in negotiations with other Government agencies and key agencies as required to ensure the achievement of Government priorities and outcomes.
- Manage the appropriate exchange of information with other agencies and Government departments.
- Work collaboratively with other units within the Agency to ensure continual quality improvement processes and transparency in policies, planning and practice.
- Foster a workplace environment that values performance, continuous improvement, innovation and integrity in the delivery of high quality services.
- Ensure self and team maintain knowledge currency of emerging trends, legislation, policies and procedures and contemporary management practices relevant to QCS operational policies and framework.
