About the Role


As the Manager of Talent Acquisition (TA) for BHP, you will lead the global Talent Acquisition strategy for delivery through an TA Centre of Excellence team that reports directly to you, as well as  our TA team within Global Business Services  to ensure BHP can proactively identify,

win, place and mobilise excellent talent as required by assets and functions.  You will

competitively attract talent with the future-facing skills we need at BHP, distinctive capabilities from diverse talent, leveraging our employee value proposition and delivering great recruitment experiences.

Reporting to the Vice President Talent and Performance, your core accountabilities include:

Strategy, TA Operating Model and Governance

  • Developing a Talent Acquisition Strategy for Executives and non-Executives, and associated governance mechanisms (including controls for quality, risk management, dashboard development and feedback loops), leveraging insights from HR analytics (e.g., candidate experience, exit data, declined offers) and Inclusion & Diversity teams where required. 
  • Assessing the operating model effectiveness and efficacy of handoffs with our Global Business Services team, HR BPs and asset/function leaders, and work with these collaborators to continuously improve over time.
  • Ensuring our interactions with candidates are in line with BHP’s brand, our candidate marketing strategy (e.g., digital, face to face) and our values.

Execution

  • Executing our TA strategy by working with Global Business Services for scaled, repeatable acquisition (i.e., Manager levels and below), and executing directly with immediate team for Executive levels by:
  • Developing a framework for effectiveness and cost-efficient choices on use of external vendors, and internal vs external candidates.
  • Working with the Head of Talent and team to leverage insights on internal talent pool.
  • Attracting candidates using levers identified as high impact by BHP’s EVP and adapting for high value segments as required.
  • Building and maintaining an external bench (including alumni) using assessment data where available.
  • Sourcing from key talent pools identified by the Principal, Labour Channels and Partnerships to win talent for key segments, critical roles or where talent is scarce.

Customer relationships

  • Building relationships with HRBPs (and assets/functional leaders where value-adding for HRBPs) to proactively understand executive talent requirements including diversity requirements and engaging proactively with quality talent at pace.

Partnering

  • Working with Head of Talent to respond (proactively where possible) to leader / HRBP talent needs and create a seamless customer experience regardless of whether the HRBP / leader first comes to this role or the Head of Talent, or whether the solution is largely internal or external.

Vendor management

  • Overseeing and managing vendor quality, expertise (e.g., within regions or for specific career segments), spend and commercial arrangements, looking for opportunity for cost efficiency, and facilitate engagement with HRBPs and business leaders as required.

About You


As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Problem solver and strategic, innovative, expansive thinker who is comfortable creating new solutions, and working in ambiguity withina fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading and apprenticing a high performing team with diverse skills and experience. Set the pace, priorities and dynamic allocation of capacity to meet business needs.
  • Have developed an end-to-end (or facets of an) Talent Acquisition strategy or other related interventions.
  • Some experience in research and benchmarking to ensure BHP has world class and purpose-fit Talent Acquisition solutions.
  • Experience designing bespoke acquisition interventions for pragmatic execution through leaders and the HR community.  This may involve bespoke solutions for different critical employee segments of BHP.
  • Senior stakeholder relationship building capabilities and written and oral communication skills to support credibility and influence at senior levels.
  • Tertiary qualification in business, marketing, human resources, or organisational psychology.
