The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) is a division of the Department of Health. The Department of Health's purpose is to provide highly effective health system leadership.
The QAS provides timely, quality and patient focused ambulance services including pre-hospital patient care and related services across Queensland. The QAS delivers sustainable, adaptive and responsive contemporary health care to Queensland. The Manager, Workforce reports to the Executive Manager, Business Services and is responsible for leading the People stream to ensure the effective delivery of human resource (HR) and health and safety services. The role is responsible for the provision of advice, leadership and support to regional management on a broad range of contemporary HR issues, contributing to the effective management and development of the regional workforce. The Manager, Workforce will provide a high level of support to the regional management team in delivering organisational reform outcomes; contributing to the overall future direction of the QAS and ensuring quality, timely and appropriate pre-hospital care and transport services are provided to the Queensland community within the region.
We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:
- Well-developed leadership skills and demonstrated capabilities and experience in managing, coordinating and delivering contemporary, best practice HR and workplace health and safety services in an environment of competing priorities and needs with limited resources.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework governing HR management, workplace health and safety and workers' compensation in Queensland.
- Proven ability to provide authoritative advice and expertise to management in order to achieve HR and workplace health and safety performance excellence.
- Success in the development and implementation of practical, efficient and effective governance arrangements in respect to a range of HR and workplace health and safety functions.
- Demonstrated well developed communication, negotiation, consultation and collaboration skills and the proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills, including a demonstrated ability to report and interpret performance data to drive performance improvement.
- Demonstrated commitment to implement practices which promote a fair and ethical workplace, employment equity, cultural diversity and occupational health and safety.
