About the RoleThe position forms part of the Inshore Operations component of the Defence Marine Support Services Contract (DMSS). The position requires the successful candidate to provide professional Marine Engineering outputs to support the safe operation and maintenance of the various sized vessels and equipment. Other taskings as required of the business may be undertaken, considering the competency and skill of the incumbent.
As a Class 3 Engineer, you will be responsible for Marine Operations reporting to the Master operating on a variety of vessels. You will also be responsible for Marine Engineering operations which includes performing maintenance and marine operations. This role will require the use of machinery which is required to be always operated in a safe manner.

To be successful in this role, you will have:As a minimum, a valid Certificate of Competency as issued by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA, or recognised alternative) as a Engineer Class III Near Coastal (NC).
Statement of Attainment - Safe Cargo Operations on Oil And Chemical TankersStatement of Attainment - Fire Prevention and Fire FightingHigh Risk Licences Dogging, Crane, Working within a Confined SpaceMaintain First Aid CertificatesAt least four (4) years appropriate maritime industry experience relevant to the position.
Familiarity with vessel monitoring and stability systems. Current Driver’s Licence (National Code Class C). Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of Defence Security Clearance – Baseline.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) where required by the business. This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes a Federal police check as an essential selection component for this role.
