Position Overview: Ocean Force is seeking a skilled Marine Lifting and Testing Technician to join our team. This position will primarily focus on the marine industry, involving the manufacturing and Testing of custom-made ropes, wires, and chains. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating load-generating lifting equipment, including boat davits, runways, bow doors, chain slings, fiber slings, wire rope slings, lifting attachments, pad eyes, and more. We are seeking a mechanically minded individual with a background in fitting and turning or a similar field. Familiarity with LEEA, Australian Standards, and RAN standards is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacture and test custom-made ropes, wires, and chains for marine applications.
- Evaluate and inspect various Marine Lifting equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Perform electronic asset management, including tracking equipment inspections, certifications, and maintenance schedules.
- Conduct splicing and swaging of ropes and wires as needed for specific marine applications.
- Perform thorough inspections of lifting equipment, identifying defects, wear and tear, or signs of damage.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and equipment maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with clients to address their Marine Lifting requirements and provide expert recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacements.
Qualifications:
- Background in fitting and turning or a similar mechanical trade.
- Experience in the marine industry, particularly in the manufacture and Testing of ropes, wires, and chains.
- Knowledge of LEEA, Australian Standards, and RAN standards preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to diagnose technical issues with lifting equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Must have a friendly personality and positive attitude!
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
