Established in 1998, Outback Marine Australia (part of Powertec Wireless Technology group) specialises in 4WD Canopy, Caravan/RV, Marine and Off-Grid ESS electrical systems.
We are seeking an experienced technical pre-sales and support specialist to work with our dealers and end-user customers. This position is ideally suited to an Electrical Engineer or an experienced Electrical Tradesperson looking to get off the tools, with a design and support focus.
The emphasis will be on the application of Victron Energy products along with other leading brands including Enerdrive, Pylontech, Blue Seas, Balmar, Raymarine, Garmin and Veco in the marine electrical, RV and off-grid markets.
This position requires in-depth product and systems knowledge.

Based in our newly renovated office in Southport, this exciting position, Marine / RV - DC Electrical Designer, sits within the Outback Marine team.
About the Role:
- Design and document pre-assembled kit designs to custom DC Power solutions and battery energy storage systems for marine, RV and off-grid applications for our OEM, dealer and end-user customers with System Overviews, BoMs (Bill of Materials) and System Schematic
- Support the sales of all products within OMA – including marketing, product assembly, phone enquiries by end-users, dealers and OEM customers, product support and product suggestions.
- Support customers in the setup and programming of Victron electrical system components.
About You:
- Experience with electrical system installations for Marine, Caravan, RV, 4WD Canopy and Off-Grid ESS markets.
- Extensive Victron Energy Product knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot remotely using Victron Remote Monitoring (VRM)
- Experience using Solidworks Electrical and MS Visio for Electrical line schematic designs.
- Understanding of relevant AS/NZS standards for the design of electricity generating systems is essential
- In-depth product knowledge in areas such as 12/24/48V DC systems, Inverter/Chargers, Solar Panels and Controllers, Power Monitoring, Lithium Batteries, DC Power Distribution & Protection and Marine Electronics
- Ability to design and document electrical systems hardware using Microsoft Visio and SolidWorks CAD software
- A relevant engineering degree or experienced electrical trade background is desirable
- Preferably CEC/ Solar Accreditation Australia Certified for Stand-alone power systems (AS4509).
- Ability to assess project risks and understand associated contingencies
- Accredited CEC trade qualifications desired
