Address As a Maritime Patrol and Response Officer, you will join the Air Force through the Officer Aviation - Mission Aircrew pathway. During your training at RAAF Base East Sale, you would have been selected for Maritime Patrol and Response Officer based on your preference, performance during training and availability of positions.
Personnel streamed for employment as a Maritime Patrol and Response Officer will perform the duties of a mission commander, otherwise known as a Tactical Coordinator on board the P-8A Poseidon aircraft. You will operate as part of a crew performing a variety of missions including anti-surface strike, anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue and maritime Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions.
You will also be involved in both maritime and over-land operations providing critical intelligence directly to both conventional and special operations forces. You may also be involved in the detection of unlawful maritime activities such as illegal fishing, drug trafficking, people smuggling or piracy.
As a Maritime Patrol and Response Officer you will be an integral part of a team defending Australia's sea-gap and wider areas of strategic interest. The P-8A Poseidon aircraft is at the forefront of military aviation technology and as a Maritime Patrol and Response Officer you will be an essential piece of our future Air Force.
