Market Compliance Officer (No Security Licence Required)

Perth Markets Group Limited is an unlisted public company, landowner, property developer and manager. Steeped in history dating back to 1897, Perth Markets and Market City support a diverse array of businesses involved in wholesale fresh produce trading, food retailing, business service provision and weekend consumer markets. 

Set on a landmark 51ha corner site in Canning Vale, with over 10 hectares of greenfield developable land, the Perth Markets site contains the only wholesale fresh produce market in the state.  It plays a critical role in supplying approximately $1B of wholesale trade value annually, making a significant contribution to the State’s economy, communities and families throughout the State.

The Role

Perth Markets are on the lookout for a Market Compliance Officer to join their small, friendly and cohesive team on full-time permanent basis.

Our lifestyle-friendly roster covers DAYS 4am to 12.30pm or AFTERNOONS 10am to 6.30pm. Predominantly a 5 day week, you will work one in every 4 or 5 weekend day shifts. An above award salary is on offer and this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to work outside the usual 9am-5pm.

As the face of PMGL and the first point contact for our visitors, tenants and site users, you naturally have a safety mindset and enjoy developing excellent customer relationships. As a key player in the safe, efficient and successful operation of the Perth Market site you will thrive on ensuring all Site users abide by our Site Rules and work safely. 

About the role

Day to day activities you can expect to undertake as a Market Compliance Officer include:

• Engaging with Tenant and Tenant employees
• Routine foot patrols to monitor safety, security and compliance around the site
• Attending to incidents and emergencies and escalating these as appropriate
• Providing operational and administrative assistance to management
• General site manual handling activities (may include lifting and long periods of standing/walking)
• Set up and Take down of Saturday and Sunday Market infrastructure (including temporary fencing)

About you

To be successful in this customer focused role, you will ideally possess:

• Great customer service skills
• A sound understanding of safety in the workplace
• Experience in dealing with conflict in a calm and professional manner
• Sound comprehension and strong verbal & written communication skills
• An adaptable approach to work to meet business requirements, including shift work/rosters
• Willingness and ability to undertake varied manual handling duties
• Good report writing skills
• Proficient computer skills and exposure to Microsoft Office
• Ability to work well as part of a team and autonomously
• A First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
• Drivers Licence (unrestricted)
• National Police Clearance

Although it’s not essential, applicants who hold a forklift licence will be looked upon favourably.
