Position
The Market Gardener will play a pivotal role in establishing, maintaining and harvesting a mixture of garden produce and orchards at the Staughton Vale Campus. This position will be responsible for:
- Management of the production of fruit, vegetables and herbs, disease control and other tasks associated with production of produce in a market garden and orchard.
- Will have a broad foundation knowledge of horticulture including soils, nutrition, water management, weed control, pest and disease management, etc.
- Management and maintenance of irrigation systems
- Propagation of vegetables, flowers and herbs.
- Knowledge of the specific requirements for growing the fruit and vegetables and an ability to choose varieties that are most productive and that extend the growing season.
- Plot and bed preparation and management.
This position will be primarily based at the Staughton Vale campus. Position is a full time, ongoing employment opportunity.

The successful applicant will have:
Key Selection Criteria (competencies, qualifications, knowledge and experience)
- Skills to operate machinery and equipment, and apply safe work practices.
- An understanding of harvest and post -harvest handling practices.
- Qualification or significant experience in farming and horticulture.
- A demonstrated passion and experience in biological, organic and regenerative agricultural practices.
- Excellent interpersonal/ communication (written and oral) and management skills
- Experience managing seasonal workers
- Demonstrated relevant experience in a similar position (desirable)
- Current Working with Children Check (employment card) (or willing to obtain);
- Current National Criminal History Check (or willing to obtain)
- Current and valid Australian Driver’s License.
