Job description

Kinross College is seeking an experienced Marketing and Media Officer who is team orientated, enthusiastic and wanting to make a real difference to showcase Kinross College.
The successful applicant will ideally have well developed interpersonal skills and possess great time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks. Extremely strong communication skills, particularly written communication, is an highly regarded aspect of this role, along with attention to details and a good eye for presentation.
The focus of this very busy role is to manage the publications and communications for the College. It is desirable that the successful applicant has a strong background in publications and graphics design. They will have current working knowledge of the publication’s programs, Adobe InDesign and Acrobat Pro, which we use for our publications. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop-CC, Illustrator, Lightroom software would also be an advantage.
This position strongly supports and works closely with our events and social media co-ordinator to provide current information to the school and community. The successful applicant would ensure all our publications and communications information is kept up to date and relevant and is presented in a high-quality format.
It is highly desirable that the successful applicant be well organised, have the ability to interact with professionalism within a diverse cultural community and with a range of Government and outside agencies.
Kinross College is a vibrant secondary school catering for students from Kinross, Burns Beach, Mindarie and part of Quinns Rocks, located in the City of Joondalup. Situated in the north-western suburbs on the coastal strip, some 30kms from Perth Cetal Business District and 1km from the ocean, its position is advantageous in terms of accessibility. Students come from a diverse range of backgrounds with families who are very supportive of Kinross College, which is well known within the community for being an inclusive and caring educational institution. The current student enrolment includes students from Year 7 to 11 with Year 12 intake commencing in 2025. All students are taught by subject specialist teachers and in addition to core curriculum, the school offers a wide range of Elective subjects for years 8-10 students and a very comprehensive course selection for Years 11 and 12 with Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), Pathways and Cert courses.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Experience in assisting with coordination of events and marketing activities and associated financial management and budgeting requirements.
  • Initiative and organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Sound conceptual, analytical and research skills, including the ability to identify appropriate solutions.
  • Well-developed computer application skills and the ability to manage and maintain information systems, including websites and databases.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
