Port Phillip Ferries is an independently owned business offering passenger ferry services between Portarlington, Geelong and Victoria Harbour, Docklands. Operating 7 days per week and based out of Portarlington, we offer a truly unique service to a wide range of customers seeking both commuter and tourism experiences.

Joining our business will give the successful candidate the opportunity to drive the business' growth, as we change the way people travel between Melbourne and the Bellarine Peninsula.
The role:
We are currently seeking a self-motivated and experienced Master < 45m Near Coastal (NC) for our 35-Meter-high speed catamarans that carry up to 400 passengers.
This is a great opportunity to be at the forefront of our service, whilst expanding your experience in the Port Phillip Bay area.
As a Master for Port Phillip Ferries, you will lead and manage the daily operations on our spectacular vessels and our vibrant crew in the delivery of high standard passenger services, ensuring the vessel is operated in a safe, efficient and compliant manner.
Our base fulltime rotation provides employees with an outstanding work-life balance, featuring three days on followed by three days off within a six-week cycle, based out of Portarlington.
Essential Criteria:
- Master <45m Near Coastal Certificate of Competency or equivalent
- A Radio Operator Certificate of proficiency (or equivalent)
- Provide First Aid (HLTAID011)
- Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID009)
- Strong leadership and people management skills;
- Sound knowledge of maritime and other legislation;
- Advanced knowledge of marine incident reporting & collisions regulations
- A MED 2 certificate and / or engineering experience with will be highly regarded.
As a requirement of the role, the successful applicant must have acquired the following Local Knowledge:
- LK 6 Geelong
- LK16 Port and Ports of Port Phillip Bay (South)
- LK 18 Port and Ports of Port Phillip Bay (North)
- LK 19 Yarra River
Successful candidates will undergo the following inhouse training, which includes but not limited to:
- Fast Craft Level 3
- ECDIS Training
- Lookout / Master Simulator Training
