About the role
As a road train operator, you will play an important role in the transportation of machinery across various sites in the Pilbara Region. If you enjoy the responsibilities of safely operating road trains, maintaining equipment and ensuring timely delivery of materials to our customs, please read on.
Your responsibilities
• Safely operating road trains, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations
• Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicles to ensure it is in optimal working condition
• Loading and unloading of various earthwork machinery
• Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel and delivery times
• Follow company policies and procedures for vehicle maintenance and safety
• Managing fatigue in line with relevant fatigue guidelines
• Must be fit for work with a good level of fitness and general health
Key skills and experience
• Current and unrestricted HC/MC Driver’s Licence
• Rio Tinto inducted (an advantage)
• Commercial Drivers Fatigue Management Certificate (an advantage)
• Proven experience as a Road Train Operator
• Know-how in managing on-road and off-road driving
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong commitment to safety
