The Royal Melbourne Hospital Breast Service is a multidisciplinary focused service that manages the care of the patients with breast cancer. The service provides inpatient and outpatient care, with several dedicated Breast Service clinics and multidisciplinary meetings a week.The successful applicant will provide leadership in the development and enhancement of specialist services for people presenting with Breast Cancer and facilitates innovative evidence-based practice, in accordance with clinical practice guidelines and the McGrath Model of Care.
Your new role:
Primarily, the MBCN assesses psychosocial and informational needs, and provides appropriate support, education, resources, and referral to health services, and other relevant health professionals to meet individual patient needs. The aim is to optimise patient outcomes and problem solve to provide a seamless progression through the patient’s journey.
About You:
We are seeking candidates who will act as a clinical expert in breast cancer and functions as a resource person to patients, families, and staff across the Melbourne Health Service and have expert knowledge regarding the spectrum of Breast Cancer.
About you:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum of 5 years post registration experience in either surgical or medical oncology.
- 3 years’ experience (minimum) as a Breast Care Nurse or related discipline.
- Holds, or working towards, relevant postgraduate tertiary qualifications such as breast cancer nursing or cancer care/oncology.
- Proven capacity to work independently as well as within a team setting.
- Strong capacity to influence and support change and a patient centred culture of service delivery.
- Excellent communication skills, in addition to, enthusiasm and motivation to educate staff.
- Clinical expertise to provide day to day service delivery whilst exploring new ways of working across the clinical teams.
- Strong computer literacy skills and ability to input data.
