What you'll be doing
Looking for a CNE to join the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute team to coordinate and deliver in-person educational sessions for early breast care nurse practicums three times a year, as well as two online metastatic breast cancer nurse practicums annually. Additionally, the role involves assisting with updates to the BCI patient resource page on the BCI website. This is a McGrath-funded position.
The CNE will deliver and evaluate clinical education programs in consultation with Nurse Management, Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Consultants, to support the delivery of clinical best practice, patient service and enhanced patient outcomes with in the acute clinical environment.
The Westmead Breast Cancer Institute(BCI) has a very exciting partnership with the McGrath Foundation to promote the professional development of, and support opportunities for, Australia’s breast care nursing profession. This position is supported by McGrath Foundation which will contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of Breast Care & Metastatic Breast Care nursing practicum education program.

Essential Criteria:
Registration: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated extensive clinical experience and/or post registration qualification in Oncology.
- Demonstrated recent experience in clinical teaching, with experience in the delivery and evaluation of education programs.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate clinical education at the ward level, and provide support and guidance to ensure an appropriately skilled and qualified nursing and midwifery workforce, working within appropriate models of care.
- Demonstrated effective and high level communication skills including negotiation and conflict resolutions skills in addition to proven ability to motivate and engage people in the clinical setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous improvement whilst ensuring currency of practice in the relevant specialty.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to collaborative and integrated multidisciplinary teamwork, aimed at building and strengthening partnerships with consumers and key stakeholders to provide best practice service delivery.
- Strong commitment to the on-going development/enhancement of nursing practice within a patient centred, multi-disciplinary clinical environment.
- Demonstrated competency in written and verbal communication, report writing and research skills with ability using various computer skills to provide educational material for clinical staff and other health professionals.
