We are currently seeking a Part Time Permanent staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.
The role
Reporting to the Coordinator of Child and Family Health and Wellbeing, we are seeking an Maternal Child Health Clinical Educator who can bring their skills and experience for:
- Develop, implement, evaluate and modify programs as required to support nursing students and graduate to achieve their optimum potential.
- Meet regularly with Universities to promote MCH Council as an employer of choice
- Plan, implement and coordinate contemporary professional development programs for the Universal, Outreach & Sleep Settling and Enhanced MCH teams.
- In consultation with Coordinator and Team Leaders, plan, implement and coordinate orientation programs for new staff
- Maintain regular contact with Team Leaders supervising new graduates to identify any issues and provide advice or support as appropriate to enable the development of innovative and contemporary practice.
- Recruit preceptors from clinical staff to support students on placement, maintain regular contact during placement and provide assistance as necessary, including liaison with University if required.
- Maintain knowledge of contemporary practice in Maternal and Child Health and provide specialist advice regarding implications of new evidence from research.
- Develop and manage systems and processes to ensure effective clinical governance support, ongoing review and the annual evaluation of the clinical governance framework.
- Provide accurate and timely reports, advice and support relating to the MCH service delivery. Including Client Feedback, Clinical Risk and Incident Reporting.
- Undertake audits, gap analysis, and continuous improvement plans for the MCH service.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, Australian standards and relevant accreditation requirements.
- Evaluate requests for participation of the unit in research and provide recommendations to senior leaders in the Unit as required.
- Monitor the Elumina MCH Clinical Risk Incident Reporting system
- In partnership monitor and support the key actions on the MCH Continuous Improvement Plan.
- Undertake additional roles as delegated by the Coordinator Child and Family Health and Wellbeing.
To be considered you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Maternal and Child Health (current registration the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Midwife and Division 1 Registered Nurse)
- Extensive and diverse experience working with quality systems in healthcare
- Experience working in the MCH service
