The Opportunity
Dematic is a leading supplier of warehouse automation solutions throughout Asia Pacific. We design and manufacture the majority of our Automated Guided Vehicle (AGVs) products in Sydney, Australia for installation throughout the region.
This is a unique opportunity to join our Asia Pacific Mobile Automation (MA) team in the key role of Mechanical Design Engineer for our locally designed and built AGVs. The role works closely with our Controls and Testing Engineers to deliver world class AGV solutions.
This hands-on role is based out of our Belrose, Sydney office and manufacturing site. A significant on-site presence is required, however, a limited degree of hybrid working arrangements (WFH and office combination) is possible.
Occasional travel will be required to customer sites around Australia/New Zealand.
The Key Responsibilities Include:
- Mechanical design work for all MA projects
- 3D design of AGV’s & components
- Certification of Mechanical Designs
- Liaise with various internal teams as required through the sales, design, manufacture and support processes
- Continuous improvement focus for designs and processes
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, procedures and processes
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a positive team player, who has the drive and ambition to develop their career in a growing, global organisation. To be successful in the role you will need the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (degree qualified) with 5 years’ experience preferred.
- An essential requirement of the role is state registration as a professional engineer (RPEQ & RPEV)
- Non-registered applicants will be considered on the basis that they will achieve registration.
- Demonstrated experience working as a professional Mechanical Engineer on similar level of equipment/Mechanical Designs.
- Excellent knowledge and application of Mechanical Engineering principles, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Maintenance
- Competent in Solidworks, Solidworks PDM & 2D AutoCAD
- Competent in performing FEA
The following will also be regarded highly:
- Competent in creating rendered images & animations in Keyshot
- Experience in Hydraulics
- Industry product knowledge and/or experience in fabrication and automation
- Self-driven individual who enjoys working within a team and can demonstrate an ability to bring people together to achieve successful outcomes in short deadlines.
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong communication skills
- Hands on mechanical experience
