Form of workAtdec is on a mission to bring more great products to market. To help do this we are expanding our product development capability. We are looking for talented Product Design professionals to join our team in Macquarie Park.
Atdec is a global business, headquartered in Sydney, Australia. We design and sell a wide variety of products for mounting computer displays -- from adjustable, ergonomic desk mounts used in offices and major financial institutions, to large videowall systems for public spaces like airports.
We are the market leader for Australia & New Zealand and have distribution in North America and Europe.
You are an experienced Design Engineer with proven ability designing for mass production. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, hard working, and results-focused. We have industrial designers and engineers on staff, our office space includes a workshop for prototyping and testing.
Candidates need a minimum of 3 years' experience developing products, along with tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as: Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aeronautical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Design or Product Design.
We are looking for people who can conceive innovative, mechanical solutions and develop these into appealing, reliable, cost-effective products in a timely manner. You should be a self-starter and able to manage your own work as well as working effectively within a team.
The focus of this role is shepherding concepts into mass production.
Very good structural, manufacturing and materials knowledge is essential, along with experience managing overseas vendors to drive projects through to mass production. You should be able to demonstrate significant experience designing and producing technical documentation for medium and high-volume production processes such as injection molding, metal pressing and aluminium pressure die casting. Solid manufacturing experience is essential, a significant part of this role is production detailing and working with vendors to bring products to market.
This is a hands-on role. You must be able to express ideas effectively and use various media appropriately, including: illustration, physical models, written and verbal communication. Very strong ability with 3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks) is a requirement. You must be able to design for structures subject to load. Associated skills such as FEA are a bonus.
This role may require international travel to visit manufacturing facilities. The majority of our current vendors are in China. Applicants must be able to work in Australia.
