Purpose of the Role
We are seeking an experienced and creative Industrial/Mechanical Product Design Engineer to join our Product Development team. The Ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and transforming conceptual product ideas into physical products, integrating functionality with aesthetic appeal, and ensuring the successful execution of the design concepts through the entire product development lifecycle. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and market-leading designs.
Main Responsibilities
Conceptualization
- Generate and develop innovative and aesthetically appealing design concepts based on product or project requirements, user needs and market trends.
- Create sketches, renderings, and prototypes to communicate design intent.
Design Development
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models, considering manufacturing processes, materials, and cost implications.
- Conduct feasibility studies and analysis to ensure designs meet technical and functional requirements.
Collaboration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project or product goals and constraints.
Prototyping & Testing
- Develop physical prototypes to validate and test design concepts.
- Work with teams to address and resolve design-related issues.
Documentation
- Create comprehensive documentation, including specifications, detailed drawings, material selection and finishes.
- Create assembly instructions and maintenance manuals of products.
Experience Required
- Bachelor`s degree in Industrial Design or related field
- > 7 years proven experience as an Industrial or Mechanical Product Design Engineer
- Proficient in 3D CAD modelling (Inventor and Vault an Advantage)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
- Excellent sketching and rendering skills
- Effective communication and presentations skills
- Require a portfolio showcasing a range of successful design projects or products
