Job description

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer for Tarong Power Station - a govt owned power station located in the South Burnett.

About the role

This is a full-time opportunity located at Tarong Power Stations.

The Mechanical Engineer provides technical support using initiative and applying engineering techniques, data analysis, improvement projects and defect elimination for the operational of the coal fired power plant.

Key activities include:

  • Liaising with relevant departments to provide technical solutions to maintain plant availability and reliability to optimise life cycle costs.
  • Improve plant efficiency and reducing costs, to increase economic performance of the power station.
  • Manage the development and execution of operational and capital projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations to determine optimisation options, adhere to Australian Standards, and follow industry best practices to ensure plant reliability
  • Develop and facilitate the development of detailed asset management strategies which ensure the plant continues to meet the objectives of the business plan with particular emphasis on long term asset management.

About you

  • Australian Recognised Mechanical Engineering Degree.
  • Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) qualification (preferred)
  • Be eligible for membership to Engineers Australia.
  • Engineering experience in power generation (or heavy process industry) plant, processes, and operations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
