The Role
We are seeking a qualified Fitter with manufacturing or production-based experience to oversee, maintain, install and repair equipment supporting the Afternoon Shift within our dairy manufacturing plant located in Carrum Downs.
This role reports to the National Engineering Manager and has a direct line to the Site Operations Manager, as well as having direct working relationships with co-workers and maintenance subcontractors. The position is responsible for undertaking tasks in the preventative maintenance plan, as well as managing assigned plant improvement projects, including coordinating and supervising external maintenance services.
Duties and Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Maintain, monitor and repair all food manufacturing equipment, conveyors, labelling/packaging machinery.
- Operate and monitor machine/processes, maintain pneumatic and system components.
- Interpret technical specifications and manuals.
- Completing preventative maintenance and recording tasks completed.
- Communication and supervision of specialist contractors.
- Regular communication with National Engineering Manager
- Completion of all maintenance paperwork.
- Ability to work independently.
About You
This pivotal role is best suited to a highly motivated and experienced Fitter with prior experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG or dairy.
Alternatively, we are happy to consider electrical applicants that are prepared to be hands on with mechanical issues.
You will demonstrate a commitment to safety for yourself and your colleagues and be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement and getting the job done.
What we are looking for:
- Mechanical Fitter who possesses a license in Electrical Reconnect/Disconnect
- Previous experience within a food, dairy manufacturing environment or beverage industry is ideal for this role and highly desirable.
- Experience using gas tungsten, arc welding process.
- Experience using SCADA systems
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Someone who works well in a team and is reliable.
- Initiative and willingness to learn.
