About the Role
A great opportunity to be part of our PNG team based at Port Moresby (with regular visits to PNG sites and other Santos offices). This role reports to Team Leader Reliability Engineering – PNG to provide mechanical engineering discipline support for Santos PNG assets, ensuring work is performed in compliance with SANTOS’ design standards, EHS and quality requirements. The purpose of this role is to improve the reliability of mechanical assets by contributing to the development of Equipment Care Strategies and continuous improvement initiatives, monitoring the reliability, availability and utilization of key systems and developing suitable failure mitigating strategies.
Accountabilities are delivered in line with the Santos company values and Santos Management System (SMS). Core responsibilities of the role include:
- Monitor and continuously improve the Reliability of mechanical equipment within SANTOS PNG assets
- Provide in-house detailed design for minor projects and field modifications.
- Develop Equipment Care Strategies and provide discipline technical review on Work Instructions for implementation in the field
- Ensure compliance with Industry best practice and Santos technical and relevant EHS standards within Operations and Projects.
- Provide first line day to day support & troubleshooting for SANTOS PNG assets for mechanical and rotating equipment issues
- Completion of assigned failure investigations
- Completion of Management of Change, engineering requests and Workpack development ensuring compliance with all SANTOS QA requirements and standards/specifications
- Completion of short-term reliability improvement initiatives
- Co-ordinate consultants in providing engineering designs and technical advice
- Other duties as required at the direction of Reliability Engineering Team Leader – PNG or a Senior Mechanical Engineer
Role specific accountabilities of this role includes:
- Prepare engineering management of change in compliance to Santos Standards, Australia/International Standards, and Regulatory Requirements.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables (specifications, drawings, studies etc) on behalf of Santos.
- Participate in risk assessments, Hazard and Operability (HAZOP/CHAZOP) reviews, Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FATs/SATs) as required.
- Support site operations and maintenance scope development, perform regular site visits, perform vibration surveys and analysis as required.
- Timely closeout of assigned safety actions and management of allocated Integrated Risk Register items.
- Provides guidance and participates in the development of graduate Mechanical engineers.
About You
We’re seeking a dedicated team player who has a proven proactive and flexible approach along with strong communication skills. The successful candidate will bring the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience within the hydrocarbon production, refining or petrochemical industry
- A thorough understanding of the relevant technical standards and regulatory framework relating to the Oil and Gas Industry.
- Working knowledge of pumps, turbines, compressors, valves, dehydration, well lease skids, linear infrastructure and other mechanical equipment and their application in the hydrocarbon industry.
- Proven track records in leading reliability or operational improvement initiatives
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment and take responsibility for the mechanical discipline.
- Registered or eligible for IEPNG and/or CPENG
Essential qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
- CPEng or IEPNG (If not attained in the process of attaining)
- Vibration analysis VCAT 1 and VCAT 2
