Memjet designs and develops cutting edge printing products and printing systems. In addition, Memjet develops and operates automated production lines for its printheads and designs and makes products for external clients.
We are currently seeking a Mechatronics Engineer with proven mechanical design experience to join our team. This role is located at our offices in Macquarie Park, North Ryde, within the Mechatronics Design group.
Reporting to the Mechatronics Design Engineer and Team Lead, the Mechatronics Engineer is responsible for the manufacture and maintenance of production machine equipment and the research and development of small and large scale mechatronic prototype rigs.
Main Activities/Tasks
- Assist on the design and implementation of prototype rigs and instruments;
- Limited development and modification of production machine tools excluding expert level (L3) support;
- Support installation, testing and ramp up of new equipment including its documentation;
- Assist on the selection and procurement of automation components;
- Integration of H/W and S/W into machine automation system;
- Author and issue system level engineering documentation including Requirement; Design, Test and Development Plan.
Experience & Skill
Essential:
- At least three years of experience in the mixed disciplines of control, computing, electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering;
- At least, two years of experience with programming, integration and test of PLC (Beckhoff, Mitsubishi) controllers and associated hardware;
- Mechanical design experience with SolidWorks CAD as a preference;
- Practical constructional experience and use of machine/hand tools;
- Ability to generate detailed equipment specifications working with customers and stakeholders;
- Ability to provide and generate training material on control systems design and implementation in collaboration with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Hardware and Test engineering resources;
- Ability to plan and execute a program of work with a high degree of autonomy;
- Good interpersonal skills to work with customers to clarify requirements and report progress to team members and management;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience with closed loop control and practical ability to use motion control hardware;
- At least, three years programming experience in one or more of the following: LabVIEW, C, C++, C#, PLC Programming;
- Experience on the development of automation systems using one or more of the following communication busses: EtherCAT, Modbus, CAN and/or ProfiBus;
- Experience using one or many of the EDA tools: Altium, OrCAD or similar;
- Programming of Robots such as Kuka or ABB;
- Understanding of safety, design and build standards: OH&S, ergonomic design, Australian Standards;
- Understanding of HMI UI development and software interfacing.
Education
- Graduate in an engineering discipline such as Mechatronics, Control Systems Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering (or closely related training).
