Applying engineering methods and manufacturing process requirements to design components, mechanisms, and assemblies in the context of reliability improvements, VAVE, compliance requirements (e.g. RoHS), obsolescence or new product development.
Design activities could include but are not limited to: Robotics, Mechanisms, Structures, System analysis, Fluidics and Thermal systems
Using design inputs, select, verify, and release approved supplier OEM’s.
Liaise with suppliers in relations to part or tooling/testers establishments or confirming environmental and other compliance requirements
Root cause analysis and solving technical problems with instruments in production or in the field.
Applying Leica quality process and liaising with cross functional stakeholders to lead changes and oversee implementation to existing products.
Liaising with workshop technicians and suppliers to produce prototype components.
Prototype building including design, construction and programming to run functional and verification testing of products.
Generating technical documents including design descriptions, impact and risk assessments, test plans and reports.
Provide support to the rest of the business in response to requests for assistance in matters relating to engineering issues
Contribute to establishment of and continuous improvement of engineering processes and procedures to support business needs and satisfy applicable regulatory requirements.
Degree qualified in Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant experience developing complex electro-mechanical devices or jigs
Good understanding in hybrid mechanical, electronic and software systems comprising of sensors, microcontrollers, motors, heating/cooling systems, pneumatics, fluidics
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to root cause highly complex problems
Strong Mechatronics knowledge and experience including, but not limited to motor control systems, programming and algorithm design for electro-mechanical system
Hands on experience in prototype building including design, construction, and programming to run functional and verification testing of products.
Capable to establish detailed actions plan based on high level milestones and work autonomously to drive to completion
Good understanding of project priorities. Adaptable to change between projects to support business needs
Good understanding of RoHS and REACH environmental compliance requirements
Practical experience in prototyping and testing
Experience working within a quality system
Competent with MS Office
