Job description

Period of Appointment

36 Months

Hours per fortnight

Up to 73.5 hours - flexible options available. 

Duties
  1. Lead the development and implementation of high-level Media and Communications strategies for the department and individual business units and at a whole-of-government level when required.
  2. Provide strategic advice to DPAC business units, and whole-of-government clients on a variety of media, communications, and marketing issues.
  3. Build and maintain proactive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders to produce communications materials, including liaison with creative agencies, printers and photographers as required, and provide quality control to ensure the agency is promoted in a professional way.
  4. Manage critical media issues through liaison with stakeholders including the Government Media Office and Ministerial Advisors. Research and prepare written material as required.
  5. Oversee and deliver projects and programs of strategic importance, including management of contracts for external service providers.
  6. Work to ensure all communication complies with departmental policies, the Tasmanian Government Branding and Communications Policy.
  7. The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.
Desirable Requirements
  • A current full motor vehicle license
  • Relevant formal tertiary qualification in Communications or similar and 3-5 years of professional experience in a similar media or communications role.
