About the Role
The Media & Content Creator supports the organisation by executing the Federation’s communication strategy in collaboration with the Communications Manager and the Communications and Online Coordinator.
We currently have a permanent full-time position available.
About You
To be considered for this position you will need to clearly demonstrate the following essential skills and experience: (Desired only if in italics)
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, media, journalism, marketing (or other related filed) or relevant industry experience, including related experience in writing and editing projects 2-3 years of experience with digital content production or similar role
- Demonstrated content creation and digital media skills including videography, editing, photography, design, copywriting and social media planning and implementation.
- Experience with social media management platform (i.e., Hootsuite or similar) and graphic design tools (i.e. Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud or similar).
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and database applications
- Ability to create web-based content
- Experience with various software applications used for creating digital content, including Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere
- Advanced knowledge of Content Management Software
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write and edit content across a variety of channels.
- Knowledge of traditional and digital marketing, and familiarity with issues impacting teachers and the public sector workforce including an understanding of newsworthiness and political landscape
- The ability to prioritise competing deadlines, multitask and utilise strong time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- A high level of active listening, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to accurately interpret and relay information
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- The ability to gain knowledge of the organisation, services and objectives
- Positive attitude to unionism
- Demonstrated understanding of compliance, privacy and confidentiality
- A demonstrated awareness of WHS policies and procedures

The New South Wales Teachers Federation is the registered trade union representing NSW public school teachers in pre-schools, infants, primary and secondary schools and TAFE Institutes. The NSW Teachers Federation looks after a multiplicity of issues on behalf of teachers. It also regards public education as a strong foundation for a sure future.
