Medical Scientist

Status:                           Part time – 22.5 hours per week minimum

Department:                  Lenah Valley Laboratory (Calvary) 

Role Summary:             To process, interpret and report on a broad range of samples

About The Role:

• An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Scientist to join our busy laboratory on a permanent part-time basis. 
• The role will include Haematology (incl. blood film morphology), Coagulation, Transfusion and Biochemistry. 
• The position will require you to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team. 
• The hours will vary to meet the operational & organisational requirements (incl. weekends and public holidays), and may require participation in the 24/7 roster.
• The role will also require shift coverage in our main laboratory located at Kirksway Place, Battery Point.

Selection Criteria:

1. Appropriately qualified – Degree in Applied Science (MLS) or recognised equivalent 
2. Eligible for professional membership of the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists 
3. Experience in a diagnostic laboratory with Australian industry experience 
4. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills 
5. The ability to work in a team environment without direct supervision 
6. An understanding of quality control techniques 
7. Proficient, motivated and highly organised with great attention to detail 
8. Experience in blood film morphology and/or transfusion will be considered an advantage 
9. Must be able to live and work in Australia on a permanent basis at time of application
