The role:
The Medical Scientist - Histopathology is involved in the normal professional work of the Routine Histology Laboratory and may rotate through other laboratories of the Department of Anatomical Pathology as required. The Medical Scientist is expected to:
- Operate as part of a team of professional staff engaged in the provision of efficient and high-quality services within Anatomical Pathology.
- Demonstrate competence and proficiency compatible with their level of experience in the provision of this service.
- Contribute to new initiatives in the Department.

Details of Appointment
Permanent, full time and part time day worker (with on-call) positions working up to 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $75,473 to $107,878 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
Tertiary qualification/program of study in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Science or Applied Science or equivalent suitable to the position from a recognised institution
Eligible for membership with a relevant professional body such as Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, The Australian Society for Microbiology, Human Genetics Society of Australasia or the Australian Society of Cytology
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
