As the Mental HealthRegistered Nurse the inpatient unit is a state-of-the-art 52-bed acute unit.
Our service provides assessment and evidence-based treatment for patients experiencing:
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)/Trauma
  • Eating disorders
  • Psychotic disorders
  • Addictions
  • Complex needs due to a mental illness
  • Young adult Mental Health needs
  • Older persons Mental Health needs
  • Mood disorders
The services also has a range of outpatient day programs that are available to treat a range of specific Mental Health issues, including depression, anxiety, addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder and emotional problems to help restore confidence and wellbeing.
Duties
  • Mental health promotion and education.
  • Patient assessment.
  • Patient record management.
  • Treatment, including counselling and psychotherapy.
  • Working alongside other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Providing support to patients and their families.
  • Demonstrates application of the principles of clinical and workplace risk management.
  • Applies sound clinical practice which ensures a safe environment and promotes optimal patient health.
  • Effectively exchanges information regarding patient responses to treatment and nursing care.
  • Achieves optimum patient care through effective collaboration with other health professionals and coordination of care.
  • Achieves optimal patient outcomes through appropriate allocation of staff and delegation of work and uses effective communication skills.
  • Exercises authority through appropriate decision making.
  • Utilises customer service principles to exceed customer expectations.
  • Undertake other duties as required/directed as service needs change or grow, consistent with the above
What makes a difference for us?
  • Minimum of 6 months’ experience in Mental Health
  • Bachelor of nursing degree or equivalent and AHPRA registration
  • Commitment to patient safety and quality improvements
  • Desire for ongoing professional development
  • Availability to work across a fortnightly 24/7 rotating roster
