- Provide recovery-oriented Peer Support for people who are in addressing their substance use.
- Support may include psychosocial support, safety planning, relapse prevention planning, individual Peer Support, advocacy, and collaborative identification of community supports.
- Work with external agencies and link clients with appropriate community support.

About Broken Hill

How to apply
To be considered for this position please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible:
- Personal lived experience of a AOD issues, and ability to meaningfully and purposefully use lived experience to provide Peer Support to people addressing their AOD issues
- Attainment of the Certificate IV in Drug and Alcohol and/or Mental Health Peer Work (Consumer), or successful completion of Certificate IV in Drug and Alcohol and/or Mental Health Peer Work (Consumer) within 18 months of commencing position, and willingness to complete other essential training as soon as practical.
- Applied understanding of the principles of person-centred care, trauma-informed care and recovery, as well as in working with Aboriginal people in a holistic, collaborative and respectful way.
- Have a valid drivers licence and be willing to travel to remote outreach centres on a regular basis.
- Excellent applied communication skills in a wide range of settings including verbal and written, and competence in computer skills.
