Provide compassionate care to breast cancer patients - apply today to join us as a Metastatic Breast Care Nurse

About the role:

The role of the Metastatic McGrath Breast Care Nurse (MBCN) - CNC Grade 2 is to provide specialist nursing care, information, education and support to patients diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated practitioner who will utilise expert skills, knowledge and experience to work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team according to the complexity of care required and the individual need of the patients in their care.

Workload will be mainly self-generated, this will be achieved through extensive interdisciplinary collaboration across primary, secondary and tertiary health. You will be a clinical expert in advanced breast cancer and functions as a resource person to patients, carers, families, clinical services, and community agencies. You will deliver a coordinated, evidenced-based, seamless, and patient focused approach to care through specialist educational resources for patients, carers, and staff. The patient-centred, holistic nursing care provided by the Metastatic MBCN is consistent with the approach underpinned by the McGrath Model of Care.

The successful applicant will be supported by the McGrath foundation, the McGrath Breast Care Nurse and the Breast Cancer Care Coordinator as well as the members of the NWCC’s extensive multidisciplinary team.

Where you’ll be working:

The Tamworth North West Cancer Centre is a comprehensive service that includes Medical Oncology, Haematology and Radiation Oncology. The Centre supports a diverse professional team with a wealth of expertise, experience and has a strong focus on patient centred care.

The service also provides an infusion suite funded for 9 chairs and has additional 5 for future growth. The treatment room caters for the administration of complex chemotherapy protocols as well as supportive therapies for patients. The NWCC has an extensive team of care coordination positions including McGrath Breast Cancer Nurse, Prostate Cancer foundation CNC, Mark Hughes Foundation Brain Cancer CNC, Breast Cancer CNC and Generalist Cancer Care CNC’s that work collaboratively as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team to provide expert patient centred care and will also support the successful applicant in this new position.

About You:

This role is for you if you are an experienced oncology or breast cancer nurse that has the ability to work in a shared role to provide best supportive care to the patients diagnosed with an advanced breast cancer diagnosis. You should be caring, open and honest, and willing to increase skills and knowledge within this expertise. Good communication skills and ability to work closely with in a diverse care team is essential.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA.
  • At least 5 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience, with at least 3 years full-time equivalent experience in the specialty field.
  • Approved postgraduate nursing qualifications relevant to the field being appointed to, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the employer.

Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
