SGS is looking for a Microbiologist to manage and grow the hygiene and microbiological sections of the laboratory and to ensure that tests are carried according to NATA and / or client specifications.
Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:
- Undertake routine preparation and analysis for environmental samples.
- Provide technical leadership and identify opportunities for obtaining optimum efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor and report on the progress of work performed. Ensure the quality of data produced meets the standards of SGS’ quality policy, certification and stated data quality objectives.
- To assist with further developing microbiological testing for the business.
- Devise and perform developmental and validation work with new analytical methods and instrumentation to a level required to achieve NATA accreditation.
- Maintain and update skills, qualifications and knowledge through courses and on the job training to support improvement
- Assist management in promoting a safe working environment at all times.
- Perform other duties required to ensure the smooth running of the section and to ensure the expected outputs are performed within budget.
- To assist with microbiological related projects nationally if required.
- To assist in training and further developing staff in relation to microbiological services.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Laboratory Manager.
