SWAMS have an exciting opportunity for a new Midwife to be welcomed to the Midwifery team.
SWAMS are looking for a midwife who is enthusiastic about delivering continuity of care, SWAMS is moving forward to ‘Birthing on Country’ in the near future. We are looking for a midwife who is willing commence prior to this project been established and happy to then move into the oncall model. With Case loading being established already, it will be important that the new midwife understands case loading and is able to manage their own workload over 4 days a week roster. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team working with Child health and other healthcare teams. We are a team that supports new midwifes, encourage learning opportunities, understand work life balance, and would like to give someone an amazing opportunity to join our current team.
We are looking for :
- A midwife who can work with in a team but also work very independently.
- Have flexibility & understand that we are moving to oncall
- Willing to explore and develop scope of practice, explore midwifery in a more holistic approach.
- Positive attitude and non-judgemental
Specific requirements of this position include but are not limited to;
Essential Criteria
- Successful completion of a Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery qualification or equivalent
- Registration with AHPRA as a Midwife in Australia
- Minimum of one year full-time or equivalent experience as a Midwife across the pregnancy, birth and postnatal spectrum.
- Possess excellent clinical skills
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills along with an ability to adapt to changing needs
- Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate nursing care programs in a primary health setting
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people
- A demonstrated understanding of the unique issues effecting and impacting upon the health of Aboriginal people
- Experience, skills and knowledge in multidisciplinary teamwork and conflict management
- Sound written and oral communication skills
- Working with Children Check
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in Community or Aboriginal Health
- Hold a current immunisation certificate
- Knowledge and expertise in the use of Communicare or similar clinical database system.
- Endorsed midwife
- Previous case loading or antenatal experience
