Minara Resources is Australia’s largest cobalt producer and a major world producer of nickel. Our Murrin Murrin site in WA’s northern Goldfields is an integrated nickel and cobalt mining and processing operation employing over 1,000 people. The Role
The successful person will become a member of a hardworking and committed team who are responsible for the execution and delivery of the mine plan to achieve all departmental and associated site targets. These activities are to be carried out in line with our three foundation pillars, Safety, Quality and Production.
You will be responsible for:
- Optimisation of all available equipment and personnel resources in the mining of nickel/cobalt ore for each reporting period to achieve targets;
- Ensuring continuous maximisation of ore recovery and minimising grade dilution during the mining process through effective resource and mining management;
- Maintaining a high-level of safety awareness with all department employees and contractors by participating in regular workplace and system audits, safety meetings, action follow up, and general communications;
- Continuous process improvements and audit compliance;
- Managing the operations workforce by overseeing hiring, development, coaching and the performance assessment of relevant roles;
- Monitoring the systems and business processes applicable to the role, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods; and
- Collaborating closely with other departments in order to assist with the delivery of all site targets.
This role would suit a technically competent and motivated mining professional with the capacity to ensure the consistent application of best practice across our integrated mining operation.
You will also have:
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Extraction or similar (preferred);
- An unrestricted WA Quarry Manager ticket;
- Previous experience in a similar role leading a large team including clearing and rehabilitation, production and contractor mining services;
- A high-level understanding of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act;
- A strong drive in the area of continuous improvement with demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills;
- Demonstrated ability to investigate work place incidents and the ICAM investigation process; and
- A current & valid manual driver’s licence.
