We are currently looking for a Mine Production Engineer on a Monday to Friday roster, supporting our WA Mining Operations. At Alcoa, our sites are a stone’s throw to Mandurah, enabling you to enjoy site-based work without the FIFO lifestyle so take the leap and work Monday to Friday each week, enjoy the flexibility of one day a week from home, a Leisure Day Off every four weeks and the ability to return home each day.
This is an exciting time to join Alcoa’s Mining Operations, and this is your chance to join a highly motivated goal-oriented team.
You will provide plans and technical input to the technical services department supporting the site to meet performance targets and utilising your initiative to seek out ways of ensuring continuous improvements are made. Your focus will be on carrying out detailed analysis and ensuring alignment for development, production, and rehabilitation schedules.
Key aspects include:
Providing robust mine planning services to meet annual and long term Mine Production targets
Advising on how to optimise the value of the mine resources
Assisting in the development of a life of mine, a rolling 36-month plan or our short term to 12-week plan.
Providing detail to the mine site of performance against the annual plan
Communicating with stakeholders to ensure all levels of the mine plans and schedules are interpreted effectively
Grade variance monitoring and contingency planning.
Developing Mine Designs
We are looking to develop the future leaders of our mine planning team so no matter what level of experience you are at right now, if leadership is in your sights, we are keen to hear from you.
About you
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Mine and Engineering Surveying or equivalent required.
Experience working in large open cut mine environments.
Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
Experience of working with mine planning tools ideally Minesight Atlas.
Excellent communication and engagement skills with experience of interacting with multi-discipline technical teams and acting as a strong team player.
Ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation and deliver content and reports in the right format for your audience.
Ability to see and drive areas for continuous improvement.

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra and Kwinana alumina refineries. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
