The Role
The successful candidate will join a dedicated and industrious team responsible for overseeing a group of skilled professionals.
You will be responsible for:
- Foster and promote a positive safety culture in all responsible areas while ensuring adherence to the sites Health and Safety Management Plan
- Raise safety awareness through audits, safety meetings, and open communication within the team/s
- Provide leadership aligned with MMO Values and ensure a culture of environmental responsibility, understanding and respect within the workforce
- Develop, execute and track the annual Mining business plan, driving continuous improvement and employing best practice principles
- Manage the department budget and implement applicable systems for cost control, tracking and variance reporting
- Maintain visibility and accessibility throughout the team and with all internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure alignment and support with the Mine Operations Department to deliver a mine plan that is achievable and maximises the use of all MMO assets
- Working with the department Superintendents to ensure all areas (Technical Services, Business Development and Technology and Tails and Water) are appropriately resourced and able to discharge their duties in order to achieve the mine plan and site objectives
- Ensure all planning horizons are reconciled (actual Vs target) with appropriate documentation and investigation to explain variance
- Work with HR business partners to ensure recruitment and personnel matters are handled promptly and in line with MMO and Glencore guidelines
This role would suit a dynamic and seasoned professional in the mining industry, bringing extensive experience and proficiency in Mine Technical Services. You will also have:
- 6-8 years' relevant mining experience in a large truck and shovel operation
- Proven leadership, delivering results through multidisciplinary teams
- Extensive planning and scheduling expertise for large operations
- Proficiency in computerized mine planning and geology systems
- Cost management, budgeting, and continuous improvement skills
- Strong report writing and presentation capabilities
- Confident communicator with senior management, legal entities, and internal and external stakeholders
- Relevant and recognized tertiary qualification
- In-depth understanding of mining legislation in WA
- Possession of a Western Australia Unrestricted Quarry Manager Certificate of Competency (highly desirable)
- Valid WA 'C' class driver's license
