This Division provides technical support and genetic reference materials within Australia and internationally. The industries engaged with include biotech instrument and test kit manufacturers, food and feed producers, biotherapeutic manufacturers and cancer research organisations.
The position encompasses a wide range of interesting laboratory work as well as important logistical and administrative tasks in the Bioanalysis team.
You will analyse biological samples using the latest digital PCR methods and automated equipment, participate in the development and validation of methods for genetic analyses, order supplies, arrange calibration of instruments and contribute to the maintenance of the Bioanalysis Section Quality System.
Main functions of this position:
- Genetic analyses of biological, environmental and food samples using our validated methods.
- Participate in technical projects, method development or short-term troubleshooting studies associated with analytical methods.
- Contribute to preparation of experimental protocols and reports.
- Monitor stocks of reagents and replenish when needed.
- Maintain laboratory equipment in working order and arrange regular calibrations.
- Organise couriers to deliver reference materials to customers nationally and internationally.
- Liaise with internal and external clients, suppliers, and stakeholders where appropriate.
- Assist with the development, implementation and review of procedures and guidelines, working within the Quality System.

The successful Candidate will have:
- Experience with genetic analysis techniques of biological, environmental and food samples
- A highly systematic and well organized approach to tasks
- Tertiary qualifications in science, chemistry or equivalent.
- Organisational skills to prioritise work flows whilst maintaining high quality laboratory work.
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment to meet deadlines.
- Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
- Self-motivation and initiative
- An understanding of genetic analysis and the use of analytical instruments
- Australian Citizenship is a requirement for this role
