The opportunity:
Council is recruiting to fill multiple Multi-Skilled Plant Operator & Labourer vacancies in our regional locations (Roma, Yuleba, Surat, Injune and Mitchell).
Parks & Open Spaces - Roma
Maintain the presentation of the Roma's parks and open spaces in line with service level standards, including but not limited to:
- Maintenance of open spaces, parks and gardens, including mowing, weed control /spraying, irrigation, landscaping and pruning
- Slashing, whipper snipping and weed control including town entrance ways and Cemetery
- Litter control in parks, open spaces, and town approaches
- Maintenance of gutters and drainage infrastructure for parks & open spaces
- Mowing of parks & open spaces, footpaths and pathways
- Tree maintenance
- Inspection of park infrastructure i.e., playgrounds
- Garden beds and street scape enhancements and maintenance.
Town & Surrounds - Regional Positions
To undertake a range of plant operation and labouring duties to assist a variety of areas within Council such as:
- Ensure town entrances are presentable by slashing, spraying and mowing.
- Undertake litter collection in local streets, parks, open spaces and town approaches.
- Maintain and clean culverts, gutters, drains and streets.
- Perform general maintenance to parks, gardens and open spaces by mowing, weed control/spraying, irrigation, landscaping and pruning.
- Perform minor pavement and footpath repairs/maintenance, as required.
- Aerodromes
- Assistance with the delivery of burials and cemetery maintenance
- Waste facilities.
Road Construction / Maintenance
To construct and/or maintain Council's road network and other assets to required service level standards through the provision of skilled plant operations, including but not limited to:
- Undertake daily servicing and maintenance for plant, equipment and machinery to ensure optimal capacity and efficiency levels and to avoid unscheduled operational downtime.
- Maintain Road construction/maintenance documentation and plant records as per Council's Integrated Maranoa Management System (IMMS) and plant management policies and procedures.
- Provide skilled plant operation to assist with maintenance requirements such as repairs, renewals and upgrades.
- Operate a variety of handheld tools and machinery as required.
- Conduct kerb and channel works.
Road Regional Projects
To construct and/or maintain Council's road network and other assets to required service level standards through the provision of skilled plant operations and Labourer support.
- Undertake general labouring duties and participate in multi-skilled Plant Operator team tasks
- Perform general plant, equipment and site maintenance during non-production or when required
- Site preparation and clean up
- Set-up, maintenance, and collection of traffic control signage as per Council's traffic control plans
- Operate a variety of handheld tools and machinery
- Completion of relevant Integrated Maranoa Management System (IMMS) forms and checklists
Urban Streets, Drainage, & Footpaths - Roma
Maintain the presentation of the Roma area in line with service level standards, including but not limited to:
- Slashing, whipper sniping and weed control around urban streets including town entrances
- Litter control in urban streets and town approaches
- Maintenance of culverts, gutters and drainage infrastructure
- Maintenance of long drains and vacant land
- Daily cleaning of Roma's CBD
- Street tree maintenance
- Assistance with the delivery of burials and cemetery maintenance
Water, Sewerage, & Gas
Maintenance of work sites and general housekeeping prior to completion including mowing, slashing, weed control and collection of waste material
- Repairs to fences, gates, buildings and other structures
- Complete traffic control signage set up, maintenance and collect as per traffic control plans
- Maintenance of valve and hydrant boxes and markers
- Contribute to preventative maintenance tasks as required
- Assist with water main repairs and sewer blockages and overflows
- Maintenance of services at other council facilities
- Perform site visits and take samples and readings as required
- Collection and swapping of chemical containers
- Conduct gas meter readings, as required
- Perform manual duties to contribute to water, sewerage and gas repairs, upgrades and renewals
- Carry out site preparation and clean up for specific
A position within our Water, Sewerage & Gas team is required to be rostered for after-hours on-call duties and/or may be required to work flexible hours as required by operational needs.

About you:
To be successful you will need to demonstrate that you meet the below mandatory requirements for the role:
- C (Car) Class Driver Licence
- General Construction Induction (White) Card
- Experience in Plant Operator, civil construction, horticulture and/or local government
This role will require reference checks, medical assessment including drug and alcohol screen, driver's licence check and criminal history check.
